Surathkal: 26-year-old woman allegedly commits suicide after fight with husband
Mangaluru: A 26-year-old woman, wife of Harish of Ottekayar, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Bala village under Surathkal Police Station, on Sunday evening.
The deceased woman has been identified as Divya.
Divya’s mother Girija, who has filed a police complaint on the matter, told the police that, on Saturday, Divya had accompanied her husband to a function at a neighbour’s house. The couple had an argument on the occasion, following which, Divya returned home alone and hanged herself to death in the bedroom.
Divya, who was the daughter of Girija and Chandrashekhar, residents of Madur in Kotekar, Ullal, courted and wedded Harish one-and-a-half years ago.
Surathkal Police have registered a case and investigation in underway.

Seven killed as govt hospital’s compound wall collapse due to rain
Bengaluru (PTI): Seven people, including three children, were killed when the compound wall of a hospital collapsed here on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, they added.
When the heavy rains, coupled with strong winds, battered the area, the seven victims were taking shelter near the wall, which suddenly came down crashing, police further said. All seven people were killed on the spot, they added.
According to police sources, the victims were street vendors.
Police and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot with an earthmover to bring out the bodies from the debris with the help of residents.
