Mangaluru: Thimmayya Kodandaram on Saturday took charge as the new Assistant Commissioner of Police (Mangaluru South Division). Kondandaram was serving in Bengaluru before taking charge in Mangaluru today.

Mangaluru South Division ACP Ramarao has now been transferred as the Dy.SP of Bellary city.

New ACP Kodandaram has earlier worked in Bengaluru Rural, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) before taking the charge of Mangaluru South Division as the ACP.

Under Mangaluru South Division, Kodandaram will oversee operations of police stations including Kadri, Urwa, Panambur, Kavoor and Bajpe.

Kodandaram is also recipient of Chief Minister’s medal and President’s Medal during his service so far.

Belthangady: A woman in her mid-50s from Guddethota in Shishila village here died after suffering a snake bite while working in a plantation on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Prema (55), was reportedly bitten by a cobra when working in a plantation located in Shishila village of the taluk on Sunday afternoon.

The members of the Shourya Disaster Response Team, who were informed of the incident, arrived at the plantation and took Prema to the Puttur Government Hospital, but the patient is learned to have died due to the intensity of the snake venom.

Prema is survived by her daughter and son.
