Three boys drown in sea in Udupi, one rescued

Udupi (PTI): Three minor boys drowned while one was rescued after they went swimming in the sea in this district, police said on Wednesday
The deceased have been identified as Sanketh (16), Suraj (15) and Ashish (14), they said.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the victims ventured into deep waters along the coastline in Koderi Hosahithlu near Kirimanjeshwara village in Byndoor taluk, police said.
Of the four minors, three were unable to return and drowned. "We recovered three bodies and rescued one child, who is now receiving medical attention," a police officer said.
The rescued child, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, has been admitted to a nearby hospital and is reported to be stable, police added.
Local police have cordoned off the area and are recording statements of witnesses. The families of the deceased were informed and it is being ascertained whether lack of warnings or supervision led to the mishap, they said.

J&K: One dead, seven hospitalised after consuming wild vegetable in Rajouri
Rajouri/Jammu (PTI): One person died while seven others, mostly children, were hospitalised after allegedly consuming a wild vegetable in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said on Saturday.
The incident was reported from Mohra village in the Kotranka subdivision, where members of two families consumed a wild vegetable following which they started showing symptoms of food poisoning on Friday evening, they said.
The affected persons were initially shifted to the Community Health Centre in Kandi and later referred to the Government Medical College Hospital Rajouri for specialised treatment.
Officials said an elderly man, identified as Mohammad Hussain (60), died during treatment, while seven other members of the two families are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“Prima facie, it is a case of food poisoning, but the matter is still under investigation,” a doctor said.
Officials said an investigation into the incident has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the poisoning.
