Bantwal: Two youngsters in a truck, the driver Bharat (23) and the cleaner Tejas (26), were arrested by Bantwal Town Police for assaulting the staff members of the Brahmarakootlu Toll Gate and damaging the toll gate.
On Monday, December 29 morning, the arrested men, who are said to be residents of Chikkamagaluru, allegedly drove their truck towards the Brahmarakootlu Toll Gate in the opposite direction. When told to pay the toll, Bharat and Tejas refused to do so and additionally drove ahead, damaging the toll gate. Further, the duo verbally abused the toll gate staff members Ankith and Rohit and also physically assaulted them. Next, the arrested men are accused of taking the support of two others who were in a pickup vehicle to forcibly enter the toll booth and again assault the staff.
Based on a complaint filed by toll in-charge Prashanth B (25) of Mulleria in Kasaragod district, Bantwal Town Police registered a case against Bharat and Tejas, probed the matter, and arrested the driver and the cleaner.

Bengaluru: The Holy month of Ramadan will start from Thursday, February 19, announced convener of the State Moon Sighting Committee Maulana Maqsood Imran Rashadi on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference after the Moon Sighting Committee meeting held at the State Waqf Board office on Cunningham Road in the city on Wednesday evening, he said that there is no information about moon sighting anywhere in the capital Bengaluru, including other districts.
“However, after receiving reports of moon sightings in neighbouring states including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Delhi, it has been decided to start fasting from Thursday,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Maulana Mufti Iftikhar Ahmed Qasmi, Maulana Ejaz Ahmed Nadvi and other members of the ulema.
