Udupi: Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati has said that all the preparations were made in Udupi district for the upcoming general elections.

Informing this to mediapersons at DC office today, the DC said that as per the voters' list published on January 16, the total number of voters in the five assembly constituencies of the district was 9,90,773, and 1,111 polling stations will be set up.

Of  9,90,773 voters in the district, 4,77,243 are male voters, 5,13,514 are female and 16 are third gender voters. 246 polling booths will be set up in Byndoor, 222 in Kundapur, 226 in Udupi, 208 in Kapu and 209 in Karkala.

So far, 16,525 young voters (those who got the voting right for the first time) have registered their names. Also, 6,584 physically challenged voters have been identified in the district, and all arrangements have been made for them to vote.

Out of 1,111 polling stations in the district, 255 are most sensitive polling booths. Special security arrangements are made for these booths.

Belthangady: The family of late Ramlan Ajhari rebuilt the house of the late Ramlan Ajhari in a program held by Dakshina Kannada District Janiyyatul Muallimin in the premises of Kajur Perdadi Ajmer Khaja Juma Mosque on Thursday. The handover was performed by Khazi Shaikhuna Twakha Ahmed of South Kannada District, Musliyar.

District Janiyyatul Muallimeen President Shansuddin Darimi Pammale Madannur presided over the function. District Janiyatul Muallimeen Secretary Muhammad Navi Mundole welcomed the guests. On this occasion, Engineer Muhammad Twahir Bangerakatte was honored for building a neat house.
