Udupi: Man assaulted and looted of Jewellery worth lakhs of rupees
Udupi: A Deputy Manager of a daily newspaper's Advertisement Department has been assaulted by an unidentified person and looted of jewellery worth lakhs of rupees on Tuesday night on VST Road in the City.
Ravi Shettigar (37), a resident of Indrali Laxmindra, who had gone to Kundapur for office work, had returned to Udupi office at around 10 pm. After keeping files at the office, he was attending nature's call on the office premises. At this point, a miscreant attacked Ravi from the backside, snatched away gold chain worth Rs 2 lakh and fled the scene.
Udupi police have registered a case regarding the incident and launched the search for the perpetrators.

Rs 1 cr cash found at liquor den in Pune, 3 persons detained
Pune (PTI): Pune police on Thursday seized Rs 1 crore cash after a raid on a liquor den in Kondhwa, an official said.
Liquor worth Rs 2 lakh was also seized, he added.
He said three persons, identified as Amar Kaur alias Mudrikaur Dadasingh Juni, Dildar Singh Dada Singh Juni, Devashri Juni Singh, have been detained in this connection.
"The raid was carried out as part of prohibitory action. The Rs 1 crore cash seized was in Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500 denominations. Further probe is underway," the official said.
