Udupi: Manipal police have rescued a man who was kidnapped from outside a hospital canteen and arrested four accused in connection with the case.

According to Deccan Herald, the arrested have been identified as Ramanath Shreenu (31), Mohan Ramavath (22), Paramesh (33) and Palthya Vijay (25), all hailing from Nelagonda district in Telangana.

According to the complaint filed by Rama Madiwala of Dasaramakki in Kundapur taluk, the incident occurred on March 31. He had brought his younger brother Lakshman to the hospital for treatment. While Rama and his brothers were at a canteen around 12:15 pm, a group of seven to eight persons arrived in a black car without a number plate.

The accused allegedly attempted to catch Rajesh, who initially managed to escape, but they later overpowered him, forced him into the car, and fled towards the Hiriyadka road from Manipal.

Police said the accused were known to the victim in connection with a previous business matter in Telangana.

A special team led by Police Inspector Mahesh Prasad, comprising personnel from Manipal, Udupi CEN, Udupi Town and Brahmavar police stations, was formed to trace the accused.

Acting on leads, the team tracked the accused to a lodge in Govindpalli in Telangana’s Karimnagar district, where they were arrested. The vehicles used in the crime were also seized.

The kidnapped man was successfully rescued, and further investigation is underway.

Tirupati: Vedayapalayam Police of Nellore district have arrested a 44-year-old man under charge of having duped unemployed youngsters by winning their trust by promising them jobs at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Nellore Additional Superintendent of Police Deeksha has said that the investigation team has confiscated Rs 25.2 lakh cash that the arrested, identified as Sheik Hussain, had collected from the victims.

Hussain was allegedly greatly attracted to a variety of vices that would provide him a lavish lifestyle. In order to fulfill his desires, he began luring unemployed by assuring that he would help them find jobs. He successfully duped around 15 jobless youngsters from Nellore town and nearby areas and collected up to Rs 48 lakh from them.

The Vedayapalayam Police, who registered a case based on the complaints filed by the victims. Two special teams, from the Central Crime Station and the Vedayapalayam Starion, which probed the matter succeeded in arresting Hussain on Saturday.

The arrested was produced in court and sent to police custody.
