Udupi: Laxmi Hebbalkar, the Minister of Women and Child Development and Udupi district in-charge, demonstrated an act of compassion on Saturday by assisting in transporting an injured student to the hospital after an accident near Kaup Cross.
The Minister was visiting the district to attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Belapu Vasaya Cooperative Society in Uchila, Paniyuru, and the inauguration of the Cooperative Mahal. While en route to Udupi, she witnessed a student being struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing National Highway 66 near Kapu Cross.
The Minister stopped her car, provided first aid to the injured student, and arranged for an available auto nearby to take the student to the hospital.
The public has expressed appreciation for the Minister's humanitarian act.
Similarly, last Monday, Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar helped transport two seriously injured youths involved in a road accident on the outskirts of Chamarajanagar to the hospital.

Bengaluru, Nov 26: A woman from Assam was found murdered in a service apartment in Indiranagar locality on Tuesday, police said.
Maya Gogoi was allegedly stabbed to death by an acquaintance, Aarav, who hails from Kerala. He is at large, they said.
According to police, the suspect was also at the service apartment for the last three days with the woman, police said, adding that her body was partially decomposed.
CCTV footage of the apartment showed that the woman and the suspect arriving at the apartment on November 23. After killing her, he allegedly fled.
Citing preliminary investigation, a senior police officer said that the suspect allegedly remained in the apartment for an entire day after killing the woman.
A case of murder has been registered, police said, adding teams have been formed to nab the suspect.
