Belthangady: The Police successfully tracked down the eight-year-old Anubhav, the son of businessman Bijoy, at Kolar on Saturday. A total of seven people have been arrested in connection with the abduction case, police said.

The kidnappers were spotted by a special team of police with a child around 5 am on Saturday morning near the Masti police station’s jurisdiction in the Kolar district. The accused who is also scheduled to be produced before the Belthangady court is reportedly being transported from Kolar at present.

The accused had hidden the child in the house of a man named Manjunath at Koorna Hosahalli in Malur Taluk in Kolar. The kidnappers are reported to have used the mobile phone of this individual to make the ransom call, due to which the police were able to track him down and subsequently take him into custody. The police traced the kidnappers through this man. It is learned that the Mangaluru Police Team are conducting the arrest operation with the cooperation from the Kolar SP Karthik.

Preliminary reports suggest four kidnappers, including Electronic City's Komal and Mandya’s Gangadhar, may release more information after the police investigate the accused further.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.

The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.

Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.

The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.

Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.

The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
