Ullal: In an incident reported from Ullal Sea Ground on Monday, a fishing boat capsized as it hit rocks near the shore after its engine turned off. The fishermen are learned to be safe.

The 13 fishermen went out into the sea in the boat ‘Buraaq’, owned by one Ashfaq, from the docks of Mangaluru at around 2:30 am on Monday. The engine of the boat turned off near Ullal Sea Gound. As a result, the boat, which went out of control, hit the rocks set up on the shore to prevent sea erosion and capsized, the manager, Khalil, has said.

The fishermen reportedly swam to the shore and saved their lives.

The boat however, has been completely damaged in the accident. The loss due to the accident is estimated to be more than Rs 1.5 crore.

Ullal Police arrived at the spot and have held an inspection.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.

Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.

 

Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
