Mangaluru: ‘Developed with indigenous technology’, engineless train 'Vande Bharat Express' will soon link coastal city Mangaluru to three major cities of the south, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed on Friday.

“Vande Bharat will soon be introduced on Bengaluru-Mangaluru, Chennai-Mangaluru and Hyderabad-Mangaluru routes” the minister on Friday told media reporters in Bengaluru.

"It is one of the kind train, and is eveloped through make in India programme, with indigenous technology" he added. Earlier this month on Feb 15, PM Modi inaugurated the first Vande Bharat Express train (T18), between Delhi and Varansi.

The high-speed train is equiped with GPS passenger information system, CCTV and talk back units that connect with driver in case of emergencies.

On Saturday, the minister also tweeted the same while quoting a TOI news link, he wrote “Vande Bharat from Bengaluru to Mangaluru soon” with the TOI report link attached with the tweet.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, also confirmed the news on twitter and quoted the minister of inaugurating Vande Bharat in the city soon.

Gondia (PTI): At least nine passengers were killed and 25 others injured when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus overturned in Gondia district on Friday afternoon, police said.

Citing preliminary information, a senior police official said the MSRTC bus 'Shiv Shahi' was carrying 36 passengers and heading to Gondia district from Bhandara when it flipped over at Davva village under Sadakarjuni taluka while trying to overtake another vehicle.

Nine passengers were killed and 25 others injured in the accident which took place at around 12.30 pm, he said.

The injured passengers were shifted to hospital, the official added.
