Winter session of Karnataka Legislature from December 9 in Belagavi: Speaker UT Khader
Mangaluru: The Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislature is scheduled to be held at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi from December 9 to 19, according to Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House in Mangaluru on Thursday, Khader said, “Owing to the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana being held in Mandya, the government has decided to conclude the session on December 19. A decision on extending the session will be taken during a meeting on December 9 chaired by the Speaker and attended by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, Law Minister, political leaders, and opposition party leaders.”
Emphasising the need for discussions on the state’s development, particularly in North Karnataka, Khader urged cooperation from both the ruling and opposition parties. He stated, “The session must address the development of the region, respecting the sentiments of its people.”

Kalaburagi Jail Chief Superintendent gets threat
Kalaburagi (Karnataka), Nov 28: Kalaburagi Jail Chief Superintendent R Anitha on Thursday said that an unknown person sent an audio message via a police inspector claiming that they will blow up her car.
However, police said they have not received any complaints in this regard.
Speaking to reporters here, Anitha said, "Somebody has sent an audio message to the police inspector saying that they will blow up my car. I personally did not receive any such message so far, so I would not be lodging any police complaint."
Following the alleged threat, Anitha said she would be more cautious now.
Last month, after Anitha took charge as the Chief Superintendent of Jail, raids were conducted and searches were intensified after photographs and video clips purportedly showing three inmates getting special treatment in the Kalaburagi Central prison went viral on social media.
Following the raids, cell phones, gutka and cigarette packets and beedis were seized from the inmates.
