Bhatkal: Renowned religious scholar and former spokesperson of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Khalil-ur-Rahman Sajjad Nomani, delivered a thought-provoking speech at the "Rabita Educational Excellence Award Ceremony" in Bhatkal. The event was organized by the Rabita Society to honor outstanding students.

During the ceremony, Maulana Nomani distributed gold medals and award certificates to meritorious students, emphasizing the transformative power of education. He highlighted how the Prophet of Islam transformed a society steeped in ignorance into a model society through the power of education.

Maulana Nomani criticized the current education system, noting that it focuses on teaching lessons rather than fostering true learning. He pointed out the difference between merely reading and genuinely understanding, lamenting that today's world is filled with literate individuals who lack true wisdom. He noted that history has never seen so many educated individuals who are simultaneously ignorant, as evidenced by the fact that many involved in corruption are well-educated yet lack ethical grounding.

He argued that true education lies in awakening moral and social values, not just acquiring knowledge. He lamented that 80 crore people in India live in poverty despite the country’s aspirations to be a global leader in knowledge and innovation. He also expressed concern about the youth being entangled in the complexities of information technology without a solid foundation in values.

The event also featured speeches from Chief Qazi of Jamaat-e-Muslimeen Maulana Khawaja Moinuddin Akrami Madani and Deputy Qazi Maulana Ansar Khatib Madani, both of whom underscored the importance of education in fostering a responsible society.

Rabita Society President Umar Farooq Musbah presided over the event, while General Secretary Dr. Atiqur Rehman Muniri delivered the welcome address. The ceremony honored 35 students who excelled in their SSLC, PUC, and graduation exams.

Prominent community leaders, including President of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Bhatkal, Muhammad Yunus Qazia, and General Secretary Ishaq Shabandri, graced the event. Other notable attendees included Maulana Muhammad Hussain Jukaku, General Secretary of Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen, Jamia Islamia President Maulana Talha Nadvi, Majlis Islah Wa Tanzeem General Secretary Abdul Raqib MJ Nadvi, and Jilani Mohtsham, General Secretary of Bhatkal Muslim Jamaat Dubai.

On the women's stage, Fahmida Khizr and Roshan Maliki of New Shams School were present. The program was compered by Tanveer Jushidi Nadvi and Athar Peerzade.

Washington: US President Donald Trump has said he has not yet considered whether he would continue the ceasefire involving Iran, while also claiming the United States holds the advantage in negotiations.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said he was prepared to make a deal with “whoever is running the show” in Iran.

“They are fighting with each other, there’s tremendous infighting. They’re probably fighting for leadership in many cases. I think they’re fighting not to be leader because we knocked out two levels of leaders,” he said.

Trump added, “When they want they can call me. We have all the cards, we’ve won everything.”

Referring to ongoing negotiations, he said, “They gave us a paper that should’ve been better. And, interestingly, immediately when I cancelled it [envoy trip to Pakistan], within 10 minutes we got a new paper that was much better.”

“We talked about they will not have a nuclear weapon, very simple … They offered a lot, but not enough,” he added.

When asked whether he would continue the ceasefire, Trump replied, “I haven’t even thought about it.”

The remarks come as uncertainty remains over the future of the temporary truce and broader negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
