14 buffaloes burnt alive as shed catches fire

Dharwad: As many as 14 buffaloes burnt alive when their shed caught fire at Hulakoppa in Kalghatgi taluk in Dharwad.

This livestock belonging to Hulakoppa village’s Adiveyya Hiremath were killed in the fire incident. The reason behind the fire is not known yet.

Fire brigades rushed to the spot and doused the blaze. Kalghatgi police have registered a case.

Private bus overturns in Karnataka’s Shikaripur; 17 passengers injured

Shivamogga (PTI): Seventeen passengers were injured after a private bus overturned in Shikaripur town in the district on Monday, police said.

Of the injured, 15 sustained minor injuries, while two others suffered grievous ones, they said.

All the injured were shifted to hospitals and are stated to be out of danger, police added.

According to police, the incident occurred this morning when the bus had just entered Shikaripur town from Shivamogga.

The bus driver, in an attempt to avoid hitting a two-wheeler rider who came in its path, allegedly applied the brakes, following which the bus overturned, resulting in the accident.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity, a senior police officer said.

With the help of locals who rushed to the spot immediately, the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said.

Further investigation is underway.
