Bengaluru: City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao has said that 36 police personnel have infected Coronavirus in Bengaluru. He also added that one of the staff has died while six have recovered from the virus.
He was addressing a press meet at his office in the city on Friday.
“The Police Department staff and officers have been advised to take additional care regarding their health. They have been instructed to ensure an arrested person should be given a bath and fresh set of clothes before taking them to the police station for questioning. The person's finger and toenails should be trimmed. Most importantly, the throat swabs of the arrested people should be collected and sent for a COVID-19 test,” Rao said.
“Police officers and staff cannot stay away from work. We have already entered a battlefield and necessarily work in the midst of people. Yet, paying attention to our safety is a priority,” said the commissioner, adding, the police should still work at preventing crime.”

Jaipur (PTI): Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday expressed concern over the reported attacks and disruptions in prayer gatherings of the Christian community in different parts of the country, saying such incidents were "worrying and condemnable".
In a post on X, Gehlot said that while the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting a church and giving a message of peace and harmony, news of attacks on members of the Christian community from various regions reflected a serious contradiction.

"Symbolic gestures would not be enough, and strict legal action was required against those spreading hatred," the senior Congress leader said.
He added that Indian culture has always upheld the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam", where every citizen has full freedom to practise their faith.
Gehlot urged the Centre and state governments to uphold the rule of law and ensure that no citizen is forced to celebrate their festival under fear.
