Bengaluru, October 05: The Investigating officers submitted their investigating report on the suicide of Alvas Residential College hostel students at Moodabidri to the Karnataka High Court on Friday.
Public prosecutor V. Srinidhi submitted the investigating report to Justice B.V. Nagarathna who heard the petition filed by the parents of Kavya Poojary and Rachana Manjunath, in a sealed cover. When the public prosecutor submitted the report in a sealed cover, the HC asked how the counsel would argue if the report was submitted in the sealed cover. If a copy of the report was submitted to the counsel, he could also go through it and argue in the court based on the report, the Judge said.
But the public prosecutor said that since the case was still under investigation, it was not possible to disclose the report. Moreover, the investigating officer had collected the statements of more than 20 students about the incident and they would be in trouble if their names were disclosed. Moreover, the investigating officers have been handling the case efficiently and there was no need to handover the case to CBI investigation, he said.
Following this, the HC asked the counsel to file his objection over the investigation into the case and as to why the case should be handed over to the CBI, during the next hearing to be held on October 29.
