Bengaluru, September 10: “BA Mohidin was a modern age Sufi saint. He was taking much effort to complete the work he accepted. Without confining his personality within himself, he has universal personality”, said educationist and writer Prof KE Radhakrishna.
Speaking at the release of the second edition of the ‘Nannolagina Naanu’, an autobiography of BA Mohindi, narrated by Muhammad Kulai and BA Muhammad Ali, at a programme organized by the Beary’s Welfare Association at a private hotel here on Monday, he said that the characters in the book would haunt the readers. One could observe the compassion in it. Communal harmony and brotherhood in the Dakshina Kannada district is visible in the book. Nowadays, the society is in glitter. But the society should emulate the ideology of BA Mohidin, he said.
Right from his young age, Mohidin was opposing the hatredness.”I have studied in Christian school. But they never called me for prayer. Instead, they asked us to do horticulture work. Both are same”, he said in his autobiography. He has rejected the power and arrogance, he said.
Journalist BM Hanief said that in coastal region, BM Idinabba and BA Mohidin were two great leaders. Mohidin has never declared that he has done good things or achieved a great thing. But he lived his life in a simple way and thus, he became a model to others, he said.
MLC BM Farooq presided over the programme in which, JDS national spokesperson Tanveer Ahmed, Mohidin’s younger son Mushtaq and others were present.
Communal harmony disturbed in DK
Dakshina Kannada district was known for communal harmony. But because of one person, the district was losing its credit, said Prof KE Radhakrishna.
“I could still remember the communal harmony I have seen during my childhood days. Mohidin has even shared those moments in the book. In any programmes at our home, the Beary family members used to come to our home and participate in all activities and celebrations. In the same way, we used to go to their programmes. But now, such a beautiful relationship and society is destroyed for the gains of a few”, he said.

Panaji (PTI): Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, co-owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, were brought to Goa from Delhi on Wednesday after being deported from Thailand in connection with the December 6 fire incident that killed 25 persons.
They will be interrogated by the Goa Police in connection with the devastating fire at the nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, an official said.
A team of the Goa Police, along with the Luthra brothers, landed at the Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in North Goa at 10.45 am.

They are likely to be taken to the Anjuna police station for questioning. The accused will also be produced before a court in Mapusa town for their regular remand, the official said.
After the fire tragedy, the Anjuna police had registered a case against the Luthra brothers on various charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The Luthra brothers were arrested on Tuesday as soon as they landed in Delhi after being deported from Thailand. A court there allowed the Goa Police their two-day transit remand.
The duo had fled to Phuket (Thailand) early on December 7, hours after the fire at their nightclub, prompting the authorities to issue an Interpol Blue Corner Notice and cancel their passports.
They were detained by Thai authorities at Phuket on December 11 following a request from the Indian government, which later coordinated with officials in Thailand to deport them under legal treaties between the two nations.
Five managers and staff members have already been arrested by the Goa Police in connection with the fire.
