Bengaluru: BBMP Joint Commissioner Sarfaraz Khan who was named by BJP MP Tejasvi in the alleged BBMP bed blocking scam, has issued a clarification that is now doing rounds across social media platform wherein, wherein he has denied his role in the alleged scam and said he was shocked and pained that he was dragged into it.
“I have no part in the alleged mismanagement that occurred in the BBMP war room established for allocation of beds for COVID patient Neither do I have a role in the war room nor do I know any doctors there. When things are like this, it has deeply shocked me that my name has been dragged into this scandal without any reason. The war room is headed by Special commissioner health. My job is to take care of BBMP COVID care centres and Solid waste Management” BBMP Joint Commissioner Sarfaraz Khan said in a Facebook post.
“The recruitment of Doctors or any other staff in the war room is the job of the health department and the respective zones of the BBMP, it has zero connection with me. I am completely pained because a communal angle is given to this issue, while blaming me, who has no knowledge and no concern with that department”, a pained Sarfaraz Khan expressed.
“I have been working, day in and day out to arrange for oxygen, oxygen concentrators for all COVID care centres to save precious lives. I have converted the Hajj Bhavan into 140 bedded oxygenated COVID care centre and 50 ICUs are being set up at the cost of Hajj Committee funds. I would like to say that 90% occupancy in Hajj Bhavan is our brothers from other religion and 10 % of them are Muslims”, he informed.
“Last year I ran around arranging food and food kits for the poor and needy, I never saw which region or religion they belong to. I stood with thousands of migrants giving them food, moral support and helping them board the train to their native places, here also I did not see their region or religion, they were my fellow brothers in deep distress and I needed to ensure that they would reach home safe to their loved ones. As a result of this, my whole family suffered from COVID because of me”, he relayed.
“Some people’s ignorance and idiocy have pained me greatly. I hope law takes its course, investigations are conducted and the anti-socials who are spreading poison in these difficult times are punished”, Sarfaraz Khan insisted
