Bengaluru: The results of government PU colleges in the state are extremely miserable. One of the many reasons for this is that, of the 1,229 government PU colleges, 547 of them don't have principals. The revelation has come at a time when the state is already grappling with ‘headless' first-grade degree colleges, a situation that has stayed the same for almost four years now.
According a BangaloreMirror report the PUE department received data from all district deputy directors across the state as on April 30. On May 16, the PU Education department director sent out a notice to all officials in the department and PU colleges, asking them to confirm if this was true.
Lecturers in these PU colleges, meanwhile, say that administration has become a challenge with no one at the helm to take decisions.
A lecturer from a city government PU college said: "For every small thing, we have to consult teachers in the college. There's no one to take decisive action. How long does it take for the department to fill the post?"
