Bijapur: The District Government Hospital here has set a new record by winning ‘Kayakalpa’ award for the third time for healthcare facilities and cleanliness at their premises.
The hospital has won the same award in 2016 and 2017 successively, however it lost the chance of recording a hat-trick in 2019 by a small margin.
However, this year the hospital has stood second in the State for best medical practices. Sources said that by a small margin again, the hospital lost first prize.
Expressing his delight over the award, Dr. Sharanappa Katti, however, said that the hospital had made efforts to win first prize.
Still, we are happy for the award he said adding that he was transferred to the hospital about two years ago. While last year, the hospital got the third prize, and this year the hospital has secured the second prize.
“We are putting our best efforts to secure first prize next year by rectifying the mistakes that barred us from winning the top spot in the State in government hospitals”, Dr. Katti said.
He said that the government has set certain norms for selecting the hospital for the award. These are based on providing quality service, maintenance of cleanliness, hygiene etc. The officials visit different hospitals of the State to see whether the hospitals are meeting all the parameters required to get an award.
Based on those, the selection staff recommends the names of the hospitals for the award.
In the award, the hospital will be given Rs. 10 lakh cash and a citation. Of which 25% would be distributed among the staff and the remaining would be used for development works of the hospital.
“We are going our best to provide better treatment to the patients here. Hopefully, we will win a first prize next year” Dr. Katti said.
