Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa has sworn-in as the new Chief Minister of the state and has to prove majority in 15 days.
The BJP is planning to draw those Lingayat MLAs from Congress and the JD (S), who are unhappy with HD Kumaraswamy becoming chief minister in the Congress-JDS alliance government. About 12 percent of Lingayat MLAs in Congress and JDS combine are likely to stand for Yeddyurappa's support. As usual, in this election also the Lingayat community has voted to support BJP.
The political differences between Lingayats and Vokkaligas have increased when Kumaraswamy had refused to give the chief ministerial post to Yeddyurappa.
