BJP High Command issues show-cause notices to Karnataka members for violation of party discipline
Bengaluru: The BJP has issued show-cause notices to various leaders of the party, including MP Renukacharya and Katta Subramanya Naidu, who are supporters of BJP State President BY Vijayendra, under charge of violating party discipline.
Rebel leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal had been issued a similar notice about 45 days ago. On Tuesday, another rebel leader and legislator BP Harish, and two other legislators ST Somashekhar and Shivaram Hebbar received notices for embarrassing the party. Somashekhar and Hebbar had informally identified themselves with the Congress and criticized BJP leaders.
BJP Central Disciplinary Committee is learned to have cracked the whip on the members, with member-secretary Om Pathak stating in the notices that their unwarranted comments on the BJP’s internal issues in public amounted to violation of disciplinary code. He also demanded explanation from the members within 72 hours.
The notices are being seen as the BJP High Command’s reminder to members to follow the party’s disciplinary code.
The action, incidentally, has been taken just ahead of choosing the party president for Karnataka.
