Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader UB Banakar on Wednesday asserted that he will contest the by-elections in the state from Hirekerur constituency if he fails to get ticket from party. He added that he has been party loyalist for several years and that he deserves ticket from the party.

According to the reports the saffron party has plans of giving party ticket from Hirekerur constituency to disqualified MLA B C Patil but Banakar has also been claiming ticket for himself in what is being seen as stiff competition for the ticket.

Banakar however on Wednesday made it clear that he will contest the election as an independent candidate in case the party doesn’t consider him for the ticket.

Sources in the political sources also adds that the CM Yediyurappa himself tried to negotiate in the matter by holding meetings with both the leaders, but it reportedly didn’t yield any result.
