BJP leader’s threat to shoot down Priyank Kharge: Congress expresses ire on social media
Bengaluru: The Congress in Karnataka has responded sharply to a threat by Manikanta Rathod, BJP leader in Kalaburagi district, to shoot KPCC leader and MLA from Chittapur Priyank Kharge.
Posting its response on social media on Saturday, the Congress said, “BJP members are descendents of the terrorist Godse and display the same mentality and culture as Taliban. They earlier hit Siddaramaiah with eggs, now they are threatening to shoot Priyank Kharge.”
The party asked, “Why would the Congress, which fought boldly against the British fear cowards like the BJP, who are no different from the ISIS terrorists?”
Recently, Kharge had criticized the BJP activists for putting up posters in Chittapur saying, ‘Priyank Kharge Missing’. He had said that if he and the Congress activists decided, they would not let the BJP leaders get on the streets. The Congress party members in Kalaburagi are still alive.”
Rathod had countered with the words that he and the party activists were willing to shoot down Priyank Kharge.

Dakshina Kannada: Two girls drown while bathing near Kolyadakatta dam in Kadaba
Mangaluru: Two girl students drowned while bathing near the Kolyadakatta dam area of the Gundya river on Friday evening here in the Kadaba Taluk of the district.
The deceased have been identified as Arpita (15) and Sunita (21), both residents of Vimalagiri in Kutrupadi village.
According to reports, five girl students had visited the river along with their friends as it was a holiday. While bathing in the river, the two students reportedly entered a deeper portion of the water without realising the depth and began drowning.
Those accompanying them tried to rescue the duo, but were unsuccessful, leading to the tragedy.
After receiving information about the incident, Kadaba Police Station personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies were later recovered with the help of local residents.
