Body of missing woman found in borewell in Kadur; husband, in-laws arrested for murder
Chikkamagaluru: Police have arrested a man and his parents for allegedly murdering his wife, whose body was found dumped in an unused borewell in Alaghatta village of Kadur taluk.
The deceased, identified as Bharati (28), had been reported missing about one-and-a-half months ago. Her husband Vijay, who had filed the missing complaint at the Kadur Police Station, has now been arrested along with his father Govindappa and mother Thayamma, after police investigations revealed their role in the crime.
According to police, a quarrel had broken out between Vijay and Bharati about six weeks ago, during which Vijay allegedly assaulted her, leading to her death. He then disposed of her body by dumping it into an unused borewell on their farm and sealed the opening to conceal the crime.
During the course of investigation, police found inconsistencies in Vijay’s statements, which eventually led to the arrest of the three accused.
All three have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

J&K: One dead, seven hospitalised after consuming wild vegetable in Rajouri
Rajouri/Jammu (PTI): One person died while seven others, mostly children, were hospitalised after allegedly consuming a wild vegetable in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said on Saturday.
The incident was reported from Mohra village in the Kotranka subdivision, where members of two families consumed a wild vegetable following which they started showing symptoms of food poisoning on Friday evening, they said.
The affected persons were initially shifted to the Community Health Centre in Kandi and later referred to the Government Medical College Hospital Rajouri for specialised treatment.
Officials said an elderly man, identified as Mohammad Hussain (60), died during treatment, while seven other members of the two families are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“Prima facie, it is a case of food poisoning, but the matter is still under investigation,” a doctor said.
Officials said an investigation into the incident has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the poisoning.
