Bengaluru: As bypolls are scheduled to be held in 15 constituent assemblies in the stat, Model Code of Conduct will be in force from November 11. However, it will be clamped only in the areas where the elections are being held; said State election chief Sanjeev Kumar.
Speaking at a press conference in the city, he said that by-elections will be held in Athani, Kagawada, Gokak, Yellapur, Hirekeroor, Ranbennur, Vijay Nagar, Chikkaballapur, KR pura, Yashwantpur, Mahalakshmi Layout, Shivaji Nagar, Hoskote, KR Pete and Hansooru.
The nomination filing process will begin from Monday. He also clarified that the nominations which were filed earlier will also be considered.
Nomination submission will begin on November 11, and the last day for submission is November 18. Nomination papers will be verified on November 19, while November 21 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Polling in 15 constituencies will be held on December 5 and counting will be held on December 9, he said. A total of 4185 polling booths have been set up in 15 constituencies.
A total of 22,598 election staff have been appointed. There are a total of 37,50,565 voters in these 15 constituencies. I will not tell anything about the disqualified MLAs as the matter is sub judice, he added.

Agra (UP) (PTI): Four people were arrested, after a prompt response by police following a social media alert, for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman and a girl inside a moving bus here, officials said on Tuesday.
According to an official police statement, at 12:27 am on April 27, information was received on the social media platform X about an incident of sexual assault on a bus travelling from Kanpur to Ahmedabad, which was approaching Namner crossing in Agra.
Acting under the direction of Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar, the Agra Police social media team immediately alerted the Rakabganj police station within minutes and coordinated with the victims to confirm the incident and obtain the exact location, it stated.
Police teams launched intensive checking at Namner crossing and intercepted the bus as it reached the spot. The four accused involved in the incident were apprehended on the spot, and legal action was initiated against them, the statement said.
The police said the swift response and coordination between the social media team and field units ensured timely action, bringing relief to the victims and other passengers, who expressed gratitude towards the police, it added.
