Chamarajanagar: In the background of the end of 4-day complete lockdown imposed in the wake of implementation of measures to control COVID-19, on Monday, the public in Chamarajanagar took to the streets in a rush to buy essential commodities.

According to the directive issued by the Chamarajanagar Task Force, the District Administration had imposed a total lockdown on the last 4 days of the week. Upon lifting the lockdown on Monday, all the shops and streets in all the centre’s of the Taluk saw traffic of people and vehicles in a rush to buy essential commodities in the district. A large number of people from the rural areas were seen on their respective two-wheelers trying to buy necessary items for their daily use. Due to the rising movement of people and vehicles, a traffic jam ensued in the region.

People were seen lined outside grocery shops, waiting to buy required items on their list since morning. From 8.30 am onwards, as more people stepped out into the streets to go to shops and parlours, it turned into a mini-carnival of people.

People were busy buying leafy greens and other items from vegetable shops, and grocery stores. Amid this, a team of security personnel arrived in the busy area and resorted to controlling the movement of vehicles and people.
