Chamarajnagar: Ramapura Police in Hanur taluk of the district have arrested a man from Mysuru who had been attempting to transport cattle to Andiyoor in Tamil Nadu and also confiscated the cattle he had been taking Tamil Nadu, following a minor accident near Ramapura town.

The arrested man has been identified as Farooq Pasha of N.R. Mohalla in Mysuru City, who had been transporting 25 cows in a truck. Midway, however, the truck toppled beside the road near Ramapura.

Sub-inspector Radha and other officials at the Ramapura Police Station, Sultan, Jagadish and Mahendra, arrived at the accident spot on learning of the incident. Upon investigation of the matter, the police team learned that the cattle had been purchased from villages near Malavalli taluk of Mandya district and were being transported to Andiyoor in Tamil Nadu.

A case has been registered at the Ramapura Police Station. Farooq Pasha has been sent to judicial custody and the rescued cattle have been handed over to the Mysore Pinjrapole Society, said sources.

Shivamogga: A leopard was killed after being hit by a motorcycle near Mandagadde in Thirthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district.

According to reports, the biker was travelling from Shivamogga towards Thirthahalli when the leopard suddenly came onto the road from a nearby forest area near Mandagadde. The rider is said to have lost control of the bike and crashed into the animal.

The leopard suffered severe injuries in the impact and died on the spot. The biker also fell onto the road along with the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to a hospital in Shivamogga for further treatment.

After receiving information about the incident, forest department officials, including Gajanur RFO Vinay Kumar, visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
