Channarayapatna: Man in Hirisave held for rape, forcing victim to undergo abortion
Channarayapatna: A man facing charges of repeatedly raping a school girl and, on learning that the girl was pregnant, forcing her to take abortion pills was arrested by Hirisave Police on Saturday.
The arrested man, Chandrashekhar, also called Manu, is learned to be a resident of a village under Hirisave Police Station limits.
The mother of the victim, who filed a police complaint, has said that the man was in a relationship with a girl studying in Class 10 for a year, and allegedly forced her to have sex with him several times. On finding that the girl was pregnant, the accused got her a pregnancy kit to get a test done. Having confirmed that she was pregnant and worrying about the consequences, the man shared the matter with his friend, identified as Chinmay. The duo got the abortion pills that the man forced the girl, as a result of which, the girl underwent an abortion, the complainant has said.
The girl’s mother also told the police that there was a change in her daughter’s behavior a few days later. She sent the girl to a relative’s house in Bengaluru, where the abortion pills were found in her bag. The girl was sent back home and, on being questioned about the pills, she informed her mother about the abortion.
Based on the mother’s complaint, Hirisave Police registered a POCSO Act case and have arrested Chandrashekhar while Chinmay is absconding. Further investigation is on.

Explosion in Molakera village: Minister Eshwara Khandre inquiries about health of injured
Bidar: District In-charge Minister Eshwara Khandre visited the injured in the mysterious explosion that took place in Molakera village of Humnabad taluk and are currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital. The minister visited the hospital this morning and enquired about the health condition of the injured.
Speaking to reporters after the hospital visit, Khandre described the incident as deeply painful and unfortunate. “Yesterday’s explosion in Molakera village is extremely tragic. Four children sustained burn injuries, while two adults were seriously injured. One of them has been shifted to Solapur and the other to Hyderabad for advanced medical treatment,” he said.
He assured that all the injured are receiving proper medical care and that the district administration is closely monitoring their condition. “Doctors have been instructed to provide the best possible treatment to the injured,” the minister said.
Khandre said that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion and identify those responsible. “The government has taken this incident very seriously. I met the Chief Minister yesterday and briefed him on the facts of the incident,” he said.
He further announced that the government will bear the entire cost of medical treatment for all the injured. “Strict legal action will be taken against whoever is found responsible after the investigation,” he assured, while appealing to the villagers not to panic
