Chikkamagaluru: C T Ravi confidant H D Thammaiah resigns as BJP primary member
Chikkamagaluru: H D Thammaiah, who was always considered a confidant of local MLA and BJP national general secretary C T Ravi, has resigned as primary member of the BJP.
This is said to be a shocker for Ravi, as Thammaiah was the district convener of the party and had been aspiring for the Chikkamagaluru ticket in the upcoming polls. He is learned to have recently visited the BJP Chikkamagaluru district office with his supporters and put forth his request for the ticket from the Assembly constituency.
The current political developments here, however, are said to have led Thammaiah to put in his papers to the primary membership of the BJP.
In his official resignation, Thammaiah has said, “I have been working in the BJP and fulfilled my responsibilities in various posts since 2007, but the current political developments have disappointed me. As a result, I wish to resign from my post as convener of the district unit as well as primary member of the BJP.
“I wish to express gratitude to all office-bearers, heads and members of all boards, forums and units of the BJP, who helped me in my work for 17 years. I also thank all my activist colleagues and senior leaders of the BJP.”

Indian crew killed in 'unfortunate' maritime incident: Indian mission in Dubai
Dubai (PTI): An Indian crew member was killed in an "unfortunate" maritime incident, the Indian mission said on Friday, extending assistance.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai did not give much information about the incident but said it was "saddened to learn of the unfortunate incident at Sea that caused the tragic death of an Indian crew of a ship".
In a post on X, the Consulate said it was in touch with the ship's owner and is ascertaining further details.
"The Consulate will render all possible assistance in this matter on priority. Our deepest condolences," it said.
