Chikkamagaluru: Heavy rainfall over the past three days in the Charmadi Ghat area of Chikkamagaluru district has significantly disrupted highway traffic.
Torrential rain has led to heavy water flow from the hills, causing large stones to fall onto the highway, raising concerns of potential landslides in the affected ghat region.
On Wednesday evening, continuing through the night and into Thursday morning, the ghat area experienced severe rainfall, resulting in waterlogging on the roads and disrupting vehicle movement.
Sudden waterfalls have also formed along the road, further worsening the situation. The volume of water cascading down the hills has raised fears among travelers, as rocks and stones have been carried onto the road, creating dangerous driving conditions.
Despite these challenges, vehicles continue to use the road, with passengers fearing potential accidents. Officials from the concerned department have inspected the highway.
Heavy rains have also impacted the Mullayanagiri area in Chikkamagaluru taluk, where rainwater has flooded the Muthodi area road, further affecting vehicular traffic.
