Bengaluru: Tennis legend Bjorn Borg on Tuesday declined a felicitation here as Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai arrived late for the event.

The former Swedish player is in Bengaluru as his son Leo is a wildcard entry for the main draw of the ongoing Bengaluru Open tennis tournament, reports Hindustan Times.

The Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association had organized a felicitation of Borg and former Indian tennis player Padma Shri Vijay Amritraj in the city on Tuesday. The felicitation had been scheduled for 9:30 am, but was initially postponed to 10:15 am as Bommai had to fulfil other commitments, reports Hindustan Times.

While it was then decided that the felicitation would be held at 11, Borg politely declined the felicitation as he was watching his son’s game.

The chief minister arrived at 11:15 am and reportedly watched the game for some time before leaving.

“The chief minister had been informed that Borg would be held up by his son’s game that would begin at 11 am. He was sportive about it and decided to come to the court and watch the game for some time,” said an official from the organizing committee.

Lucknow (PTI): Adverse weather forced an IndiGo Kolkata-Patna flight to make an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Friday, airport sources said.

According to airport officials, weather conditions in Patna deteriorated suddenly on Friday afternoon, affecting flight operations.

IndiGo flight 6E 6917 from Kolkata, which was scheduled to land in Patna at 3.50 pm, could not land due to bad weather and kept circling in the air after failing to get clearance from air traffic control, they said.

The flight was later diverted to Lucknow and landed safely at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at around 5.15 pm. There were 180 passengers and six crew members on board, officials said.

The aircraft was later allowed to depart for Patna after weather conditions improved.
