Bengaluru: Karnataka on Tuesday recorded 161 new cases of Corona Virus in the state. With this, the state has neared the 6000-cases mark, as the total toll of cases currently stands at 5921. The State also recorded two death cases due to the deadly virus taking the toll of deaths in the state to 66.

According to the latest health bulletin issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the state recorded 161 new cases between Monday 5 pm to Tuesday at 5 pm.

 A 65-year-old man who was admitted to hospital in Bengaluru Urban on June 3 for Diabetic and BP issues died on June 8 and his samples have returned positive for the virus. Another 17-year-old female patient who was admitted to hospital on June 4 in Kalaburagi due to breathing problems, died on Tuesday and has tested positive for the virus.

On Tuesday, Yadgiri reported 61 cases while Bengaluru Urban reported 29 cases. Among other Districts, Dakshina Kannada reported 23 new cases, Kalburagi 10, Bidar 9, Davangere 8, Koppal 6 Shivmoga 4.

Chikkaballapur, Vijayapura, Mysuru, and Dharwad reported two cases each. Bagalkote, Chamrajnagar, and Tumkuru reported one case each on Tuesday.

Of the 5921 cases reported in the State so far, 2605 patients have recovered and have been discharged from Hospitals. 66 patients have succumbed to the virus across the state so far. Tuesday’s bulletin added that 164 people recovered and were discharged in a single day on Tuesday. The state currently has 3248 active cases of COVID-19, the bulletin added.

Jaipur (PTI): Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday expressed concern over the reported attacks and disruptions in prayer gatherings of the Christian community in different parts of the country, saying such incidents were "worrying and condemnable".

In a post on X, Gehlot said that while the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting a church and giving a message of peace and harmony, news of attacks on members of the Christian community from various regions reflected a serious contradiction.

"Symbolic gestures would not be enough, and strict legal action was required against those spreading hatred," the senior Congress leader said.

He added that Indian culture has always upheld the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam", where every citizen has full freedom to practise their faith.

Gehlot urged the Centre and state governments to uphold the rule of law and ensure that no citizen is forced to celebrate their festival under fear.
