Dharwad: Over 1500 people from several organisations of Muslim Community in Dharwad including Anjuman-e-Islam, on Friday, Feb 22, came together for a rally in solidarity with the Pulwama martyrs, which was organised by Ismail Tamatgar, ex-President of Anjuman-e-Islam and Congress leader.

About 1600 people marched with one kilometer long Indian flag, through the streets of Dharwad, from Kalabhavan to the office of Deputy Commissioner.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Prime Minister and President of India, through the Deputy Commissioner, condemning the attack and seeking strict action against the perpetrators of the dastardly attack on the CRPF convoy, that killed as many as 44 soldiers.

A one kilometer long India flag was also arranged and students of several schools carried the flag in the rally.

Members from other communities also participated in the rally to show solidarity with the martyrs of Pulwama attack and their families.

Similar rallies of multiple communities coming together in solidarity have been reported from across the country ever since the dastardly Pulwama attack on February 14.

Mumbai (PTI): The Mumbai police have registered a case against a man for allegedly duping seven persons of Rs 91 lakhs on the promise of awarding them works of different government departments, an official said on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Satish Kadam, a resident of Nanded in Marathwada region, an official said.

A complaint was filed by Hanumant Vadje, who alleged that the accused cheated him and six others of around Rs 91 lakh by promising to give them various works of Urban Development and Social Justice Department, he said.

The fraud occurred between 2024 and 2026, with Kadam collecting money in cash and into his accounts, police said, adding he had returned some amount to them partially.

Multiple cheques issued by the accused bounced, prompting the victim to lodge a complaint at the Marine Drive police station. Based on the complaint, a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered against him.

The case is under further investigation, the official said.
