Hassan: A devastating road accident near Amanikere in Channarayapatna taluk claimed the lives of a father and son, while the senior victim’s wife sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred when their car, reportedly suffering a brake failure, collided with another vehicle and then crashed into a roadside tree.
The deceased have been identified as Rakesh Gowda (28) and his eight-year-old son, Mokshith. The injured woman, Asha, is undergoing treatment for critical injuries at a local hospital.
According to police sources, the family was traveling from Channarayapatna to Shravanageri village when the brakes of their vehicle malfunctioned near Amanikere. Losing control of the car, Rakesh collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle before the car veered off and struck a tree with significant impact. The force of the crash resulted in the instant deaths of Rakesh and Mokshith.
Chennarayapatna Traffic Police rushed to the accident site and conducted a detailed inspection.

Lucknow (PTI): Adverse weather forced an IndiGo Kolkata-Patna flight to make an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Friday, airport sources said.
According to airport officials, weather conditions in Patna deteriorated suddenly on Friday afternoon, affecting flight operations.
IndiGo flight 6E 6917 from Kolkata, which was scheduled to land in Patna at 3.50 pm, could not land due to bad weather and kept circling in the air after failing to get clearance from air traffic control, they said.
The flight was later diverted to Lucknow and landed safely at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at around 5.15 pm. There were 180 passengers and six crew members on board, officials said.
The aircraft was later allowed to depart for Patna after weather conditions improved.
