Mangaluru: A video of Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell justifying before an audience the murder of Fazil in Surathkal as an act of revenge for the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha activist Praveen Nettaru has gone viral on social media.

Pumpwell, who addressed a rally in Tumakuru, has said in the video clip, “Wishing to give a befitting reply to the ‘Muslim Jihadists’ who had a hand in the murder of Praveen Nettaru, the hot-blooded youth in Surathkal got into action not in a secluded place, but in a crowded market, in full view of the public. They have shown the power of Hindu youth.”

Nettaru was murdered on July 26, 2022, two days after which, Mohammed Fazil, a youngster from Surathkal, was killed in a public place.

Fazil’s father had expressed his dissatisfaction that the government, which handed the case of Nettaru’s murder to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), did not do so with regard to his son’s murder. The people who had planned Fazil’s murder too have not been arrested, he has complained.

In response to the video on social media, many have demanded that Sharan Pumpwell be arrested for provoking people to resort to acts of violence.

New Delhi: Kanimozhi Karunanidhi has written to the Lok Sabha Speaker seeking a separate seating arrangement for Members of Parliament belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) following the end of the party’s alliance with the Indian National Congress.

In a letter dated May 7 addressed to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Kanimozhi said the changed political situation made it inappropriate for DMK MPs to continue sitting alongside Congress members in the House.

She requested the Speaker to make “suitable changes” in the seating arrangement of the DMK Parliamentary Party and allot separate seating for its MPs.

“In view of the changed political circumstances and as our alliance with the Indian National Congress has come to an end, it may not be appropriate for our Members to continue occupying the present seating arrangement alongside them in the House,” the letter stated.

Kanimozhi further said separate seating would help DMK members effectively discharge their responsibilities in the Lok Sabha.
