Bengaluru: The Bengaluru City Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Karnataka IT and Social Media Head for a social media post that allegedly tried to defame Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The post was linked to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

According to the Economic Times report, the FIR was registered by the High Grounds Police acting on a complaint filed by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesperson CM Dhananjaya. He claimed that the BJP’s post tried to create tension in society and disturb peace.

According to the complaint, the BJP's social media post included a photo of Rahul Gandhi and said that “every time he (Rahul Gandhi) leaves the country, something bad happens here.” The Congress leader said the post was made to insult Gandhi and demanded legal action.

The post has been reportedly deleted by the party following backlash.
