Bengaluru: Former State President of JD(s) and disqualified MLA H Vishwanath on Friday announced his retirement from electoral politics in what came as a shock to many in state's political circles.

Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Friday Vishwanath confirmed that he would not participate in electoral politics.

He further added that he would never go against JD(s) supremo HD Devegowda.

"I can go against anyone but not HD Devegowda" he told reporters.

Vishwanath further clarified that the move to retire has nothing to do with BJP and horse trading.

In what can turn out to be a hint about the future of rebel MLAs he said "The world is big, why can't 20 like minded MLAs form a party of their own".
