Bengaluru, May 23: KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar has sworn in as the new Deputy Chief Minister of the state at a swearing in ceremony held in front of the Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday. Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath to Parameshwar.
A host of national level leaders like UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, AICC president Rahul Gandhi, BSP leader Mayawati, SP president and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Congress leaders Mallikarjuna Kharge, DK Shivakumar, Ramalinga Reddy and others witnessed the swearing in ceremony.

Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.
Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.
Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
