Bengaluru: A gang of four men is on the run after allegedly stealing Rs 30.2 lakh from an ATM near Hoskote, Bengaluru. The robbery took place early on Saturday morning, around 3:15 AM, at the State Bank of India (SBI) ATM located at the Sulibele branch.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, the suspects, dressed in bedsheets and with their faces covered by red towels, broke open the ATM's shutter to gain access to the kiosk. Once inside, they immediately sprayed black paint on the CCTV camera to disable surveillance.
C.K. Baba, Superintendent of Police for Bengaluru Rural, explained that the gang used a gas cutter to break into the ATM machine and targeted a specific part of the machine where cash is stored. “The gang appears to be professional as they knew exactly where to strike and open the ATM machine,” he told DH.
A police source from Sulibele opined that the gang may have done a recce before striking, considering the way they managed to avoid detection.
The suspects arrived at the scene in an SUV, though no clear footage of their faces has been recovered. However, police have retrieved CCTV footage that shows glimpses of their movements and the vehicle they used.

Godda (PTI): Two persons were arrested for allegedly strangling to death a three-year-old girl and dumping her body into a well in Jharkhand’s Godda district, police said on Friday.
The incident took place at Makudi village within Muffasil police station limits on Thursday night, they said.
Villagers said they spotted a man identified as Prem Murmu (50) near the well at night and, suspecting foul play, informed the police.
"The kid's body was recovered from the well soon after, and Murmu was detained for questioning," said Anand Shah, the officer-in-charge of Muffasil police station.
During interrogation, Murmu told police that he and his friend Jarmen Soren (30) had killed the kid. Both were later arrested, Saha said.
"The accused were in an inebriated state at the time of the incident. They have not yet revealed the motive behind the killing. This has led to suspicion that the girl might have been raped," the OC said.
The duo have been sent to judicial custody after registering an FIR at the police station, police said.
