Two killed on the spot as goods vehicle rams into two-wheeler in Tumkuru
Tumakuru: Two people died on the spot in a road accident when their two-wheeler was hit by a goods vehicle on National Highway 206 in Konehalli, Tumakuru taluk, here on Thursday.
The victims of the accident have been identified as Shamanthachar (55) of Siddapura and Shivanna (50) of Shivapura, said sources.
A case has been registered at the Honnavalli Police Station.
The citizens have expressed fury at the lack of signboards on the road, which often causes fatal accidents as on Thursday.
“Hundreds of vehicles ply a national highway. When the road repair work goes on at a snail’s pace without proper indicators and signboards, there is every chance for an accident,” one of the people said.
They even pointed out that more than 10 accidents occurred between Tiptur and Arasikere in the area in the last two months due to the lack of proper boards.

Dharwad Corporation zonal offices raided after complaints of corruption in issuing land records
Hubballi: Karnataka Lokayukta officials on Friday conducted raids at multiple zonal offices of the Hubballi-Dharwad City Corporation following complaints alleging bribery and delay in issuing land-related documents, including e-Swathu records.
The raids were carried out in the morning under the leadership of Siddalingappa S.T.. Separate teams inspected 12 zonal offices of the Corporation and examined records linked to land ownership and document processing.
According to sources, the Lokayukta received complaints from members of the public alleging that Corporation officials were demanding bribes for issuing e-Swathu and other land documents.
Residents reportedly alleged that applications were being deliberately delayed if bribes were not paid.
Based on these complaints, officials carried out inspections of files and records connected to land ownership and issuance of documents.
Further investigation is underway.
