Bengaluru: The state government is committed to safeguard the interests of sugarcane growers.A meeting of growers, sugar factory owners and concerned officials has been convened to discuss the problems faced by sugarcane growers at 3 pm on Monday. I am confindent the meeting will yeild a firm decision in favour of the farmers, said CM Kumaraswamy.

"The sugar commissioner had held a meeting on Sunday night regarding the sugarcane growers of Belagavi and Bagalkote," he added. 

"I have been in touch with the District administeration since the beginning of the sugarcane growers' protests and giving instructions to to deputy commissioner. However, farmers barging into the Suvarana Vidhan Soudha is unfortunate," he said.

Mumbai (PTI): The Maharashtra government on Friday withdrew its order to disburse Rs 10 crore for strengthening the Maharashtra state Waqf Board, state chief secretary Sujata Saunik said.

The development comes a day after a government resolution (GR) was issued, in which the state administration ordered disbursal of Rs 10 crore funds for strengthening the state Waqf Board.

When asked whether the GR was withdrawn, Saunik confirmed the development.

As per the November 28 GR, Rs 20 crore were earmarked for 2024-25 for strengthening of the Maharashtra State Board of Waqfs (MSBW). Of that, Rs 2 crore were disbursed to the MSBW headquartered in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
