Shivamogga: In an incident reported from Balur in Shikaripura taluk, a 51-year-old teacher of the Government Higher Primary School allegedly hanged himself to death in a classroom recently.
The teacher, Dhananjayappa, is said to have sent the students out of the classroom, locked the door and hanged himself in the room.
His colleagues learned of the matter after some time and rushed him to the Shikaripura Government Hospital, where the doctors examined and declared him to be dead.

A resident of Jeenahalli of Honnali in Davanagere district, Dhananjayappa was working at the government school for five years now and reportedly traveled to Balur on a daily basis. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Shikaripura Police have filed an FIR and are probing the matter.
The reason for the teacher’s extreme move is not known yet.

Dubai (PTI): An Indian crew member was killed in an "unfortunate" maritime incident, the Indian mission said on Friday, extending assistance.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai did not give much information about the incident but said it was "saddened to learn of the unfortunate incident at Sea that caused the tragic death of an Indian crew of a ship".
In a post on X, the Consulate said it was in touch with the ship's owner and is ascertaining further details.
"The Consulate will render all possible assistance in this matter on priority. Our deepest condolences," it said.
