Bengaluru, May 16: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala on Wednesday invited BJP legislative party leader B.S. Yeddyurappa to form the new government and to take oath as Chief Minister on Thursday, a party spokesman said.

"We received a communique from the Raj Bhavan, inviting Yeddyurappa to form the government and take oath at 9.30 a.m." BJP state unit spokesman Vamanacharya told IANS here.

Only Yeddyurappa will take oath at a simple ceremony in the 'Glass House' on the lawns of the Raj Bhavan in the city centre amid tight security.

The Governor has invited party's leaders and newly-elected legislators to the oath-taking ceremony," added Vamanacharya.

There was, however, no official communique from the Raj Bhavan to the media till the filing of this report.

Mangaluru (Karnataka), Nov 8: A local court on Friday sentenced three men to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl here in November, 2021.

The district sessions court of Dakshina Kannada passed the order against Jay Singh, Mukesh Singh and Manish Tirki, convicted for the crime.

According to the police, the trio taking advantage of the extreme alcohol addiction of the parents of the girl had lured her into a tile factory, raped and murdered her and mutilated the body and threw it into a gutter near the factory.

This happened in Ulaibettu panchayat limits in Mangaluru rural police station. The police had filed a case under POCSO Act and IPC then.
