Half ticket for hens in KSRTC bus
Conductor followed government rules, farmer astonished
Bengaluru, July 02: A farmer was astonished when a conductor of the bus in which he was travelling charged him a half-ticket for the two hens he was carrying.
A resident of Peddanahalli Srinivas was travelling from Gauribidnur to Peddanahalli –a 30 minute journey – in Chikkaballapura district by a KSRTC bus.
The farmer had purchased the hens for Rs 150 each in Gauribidanur and boarded the bus. He handed over a Rs 50 note to the conductor for the Rs 24 fare for an adult. He expected the conductor to return Rs 26, but to his shock, was given only Rs 2 — and three tickets.
Conductor wrote on backside of the ticket that he had issued two half tickets for the hens
As per KSRTC policy which is hosted on its website, rabbits, pups, cats, birds and birds in a cage are charged children’s fare. Under no circumstances will they be treated as part of free allowance.”
Outraged Srinivas said “We farmers depend on public transport. It was just two (hens) which together weighed 2.5kg and did not occupy a seat. They were in a plastic bag and on my lap. I’m shocked that I was charged half-tickets for them.”

'Shocked' SC summons police commissioner, IO on Apr 13 in Ghaziabad rape-murder case of minor
New Delhi (PTI): Expressing deep shock, the Supreme Court on Friday intervened in the harrowing rape-murder case of a four-year-old girl in Ghaziabad and summoned the police commissioner and the investigating officer on April 13 with the case records.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi took note of the submissions of senior lawyer N Hariharan, appearing for the victim's father, a daily wager, and expressed its displeasure over the manner in which the state police had conducted the investigation so far in the case.
The CJI lambasted the state police and two private hospitals, which refused to treat the girl before she succumbed to her injuries post-alleged rape, for their "complete indifference" and "insensitive approach".
On March 16, the victim was allegedly lured away by a neighbour on the pretext of buying chocolates and when the child did not return, a search led the father to find her lying unconscious and covered in blood. She later succumbed to her injuries at a government hospital in Ghaziabad.
