Bengaluru, August 16: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday denied bail to the main accused in the murder case of cattle trader Hussainabba Jokatte.
In last May, the Bajrang Dal activists stopped cattle trader Hussainabba Jokatte in front of the police and assaulted him. Later, it was found in the department investigation that he died in the police custody.
In this case, two police personnel including Hiriyadka police station PSI were arrested on charges of dereliction of duty. Now, the High Court rejected the bail plea of six main accused of the Bajrang Dal. Now, they have to move to the Supreme Court.
On Thursday, there was parade to identify the accused at Karwar jail where the witnesses have identified all the accused. Following this, the High Court has rejected the bail plea of accused number 2, 4, 6, 7, 14 and 15. As a result, they have to be in the jail. But the HC has granted bail to two police personnel who were named as accused number 9 and 10 in the case.
Advocate Chandramouli argued on behalf of the state government, while Abdul Latheef Badagannur argued for the complainants and BV Acharya argued in favour of the accused.

Gumla (PTI): Three persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two women at a village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, police said.
All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, Gumla Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge, Mahendra Karmali, told PTI.
According to police, one of the women had been called to Gumla Sadar by her boyfriend on Sunday for an outing.
“She arrived at the spot accompanied by a female. The woman’s boyfriend then called a friend, and they took the two women to a secluded place in Sisai police station area in the evening, forcibly made them consume alcohol before raping them,” the officer said.
The accused later called another man to the spot, who also allegedly raped the women, he said.
“The women later reached the Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint on Sunday night. Police conducted raids and nabbed the three accused on Monday,” he added.
Further investigation is underway.
