Hubballi, July 26: Protesting against not paying them for the last four months, Hubballi-Dharwad city corporation civic workers staged a protest pouring excreta on them, here on Thursday.

Condemning the harassment from corporators and officers, the civic workers protested on the premises of the city corporation and expressed their anger by pouring the excreta on them. They demanded direct payment and identify the fake civic workers. More than 1200 civic workers participated in the protest. But the police who were present at the place remained mute spectators.

It is said that additional police force which reached the spot later arrested the agitators.

DCM DK Shivakumar celebrated digitally by taking a selfie with the ‘Kannada Filter’ on Instagram, encouraging others to join in. He nominated Speaker U.T. Khader to continue this digital campaign, marking it as a small step to spread Kannada’s glory worldwide. “May the lamp of Kannada shine forever, lighting the way for everyone,” he added.
