Bengaluru, October 03: Lokayukta Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested B.V. Srinivas Reddy, one of the close associates of former minister G. Janardhana Reddy in related to illegal mining case and interrogated him.
In a press release, SIT IGP M. Chandrashekar said that as per the 2015 case, mining contractors G. Janardhana Reddy, KM Ali Khan and others hatched out a conspiracy and prevailed upon N. Sheik Saab of the Indian Mines and Minerals and started illegal mining at Siddapura village in Sandur taluk of Ballary district.
Because of the pressure, Sheik Saab appointed Devi Enterprises of K.M. Ali Khan as partner with 75 per cent shares and completely handed over his Indian Mines and Minerals mining contract to them. This illegal mining, illegal transportation of iron ore and illegal business had caused great loss to the State Exchequer. Apart from this, they were facing illegal transportation of more than 1.48 lakh metric ton iron ore in July 2009 from the mining area.
Srinivas Reddy is the owner of the OMC and he had extracted the iron ore illegally and transported it. Based on this allegation, the SIT arrested him and interrogated, the press release said.

New Delhi (PTI): The Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the Centre and others on a plea to accord weightage to states' proposal on the exact cost of cultivation while fixing minimum support price (MSP).
A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi issued notices to the Centre and others, including the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices, seeking their response on the plea.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioners, said the plea raises a very important issue related to the farmers in the country.
The plea has sought direction to the authorities to ensure complete procurement of all notified crops under the MSP calculated on the basis of the exact cost of cultivation.
It has also sought direction to take appropriate steps to ensure complete procurement of crops from all farmers who are desirous of selling their crops at the MSP.
