Hassan: Gurajat MLA Jignesh Mevani and actor Prakash Raj, here on Thursday, urged the public to be cautious about the next move of the JD(S).
While Mr. Raj said the people have to protest against H.D. Deve Gowda if he goes with the BJP after the election, Mr. Mevani called upon the public to make their choice based on whom the JD(S) would go with after the elections.
They were addressing a seminar on ‘Save Constitution’ here on Thursday.
Mr. Mevani said he was not in favour of any political party, but would oppose the BJP for its anti-constitution stand strongly.
“The party is making all efforts to divide people by raking up the issue of religion. The people of Karnataka should defeat the party in the State Assembly elections,” he said.
“The Prime Minister calls himself a chowkidar , but he was actually a chor ,” said Mr. Mevani alleging that he had not fulfilled any of the promises he made in 2014.
Recalling Mr. Modi’s praise for Mr. Gowda in his speech, Mr. Raj said the people would not forget how Mr. Modi asked Mr. Gowda to stay put in an old-age home during his earlier rallies in the State.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.
“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.
The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.
Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
