Davanagere: Tensions within the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could potentially lead to the deterioration of the party's strength in Karnataka, cautioned former minister and senior BJP leader MP Renukacharya. Speaking to the press in Honnali on Tuesday, Renukacharya expressed his concerns about the ongoing internal conflicts within the party and their potential consequences.

Renukacharya pointed out that the party's decision to compel veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa to step down from the Chief Minister's post has come at a high cost for the state unit. He criticized the sidelining of Yediyurappa and the delay in appointing a new state president and leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly. These actions, he emphasized, have deeply hurt Yediyurappa, a seasoned BJP member.

The former minister also took aim at the approach of some party leaders, noting that relying solely on the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not suffice to win elections in Karnataka. He highlighted that unlike in other states, BJP leaders in Karnataka have failed to effectively showcase the achievements of the Prime Minister's initiatives. Instead, he observed, they have limited their efforts to using his photo on party materials.

Responding to rumors about his potential departure from the party, Renukacharya firmly dismissed such speculations. He asserted his unwavering allegiance to the BJP, comparing the party to his mother. He expressed his disappointment with the comments and behavior of certain political leaders and condemned their statements.
